In order to trade coins, the easiest way is to transfer Bitcoin (BTC) or Ethereum (ETH) to a cryptocurrency exchange. If you don't hold BTC or ETH yet, you need to purchase them via credit card or bank transfer. One of the best options for this purpose is Coinbase.

There are multiple methods to determine the price point of a coin in any given time frame. Most of the time, all of the common methods result in very similar results, but sometimes divergences can occur. CoinCodex uses a method where the price is calculated by measuring the impact of the entire market on one coin, and one coin's impact on the entire market. This results in a price that reacts faster than other methods to changes in the markets, which is why we can provide real time-prices and real-time charts.
Prices are calculated as a volume weighted average of all prices reported for each market.
The 24-hour volume is the sum value of all trades on all exchanges that are listing a specific cryptocurrency in the last 24 hours.

24h volume = ∑ Price × Amount traded (on all exchanges in the last 24 hours).
We calculate market capitalization by multiplying the price of a specific coin by its circulating supply.

Market cap = Price × Circulating Supply

We also use other metrics to decide whether to display a cryptocurrency’s market cap. This is important, particularly for cryptocurrencies that would rank very high on the list of top 100 coins by market cap.
The circulating supply of a cryptocurrency is the number of coins or tokens that are circulating in the market (available to the public). For some coins, circulating supply information is unreliable. In these cases, we dismiss a coin's circulating supply and don't calculate its market capitalization. This is most often the case when a cryptocurrency's distribution is heavily centralized (for example, when a few addresses hold the vast majority of a coin's supply).
In real-time using a 24-hour rolling calculation.
The website is operating in UTC time with DST.
By default, the website only displays the top 100 coins by market cap. You can change this by choosing to view more than 100 coins.
Market cap is not calculated for coins with no circulating supply data. This could be because the circulating supply information is either unavailable or unreliable (please refer to the answer to question 10).
